Biography

Johns planning career spans more than two decades with strong development assessment and statutory planning experience in both the public and private sectors. He has a wealth of experience in development and strategic planning, including preparing and implementing planning and development strategies, plan drafting and project management of development proposals.

John has been involved in a range of major development projects for Brisbane, with a focus on Brisbane's CBD and inner city urban renewal areas. Projects include various residential and commercial towers in the CBD including the iconic Vision Tower, a number of masterplanned urban villages such as the award winning Kelvin Grove Urban Village, and other major urban infill projects.

John recognises the importance of creating excellent working relationships with his clients and government, which ultimately produce quality outcomes in a timely and efficient manner. John has worked extensively with both private and public sector clients and also has a close working relationship with Brisbane City Council.

Prior to joining Humphreys Reynolds Perkins in 2001, John was a Senior Planner with the Brisbane City Council where he worked in the Development Assessment Central Team and also in the statutory planning team responsible for delivering Brisbanes first IPA compliant planning scheme - the Brisbane City Plan 2000.

John has previous private sector experience in Queensland and South Australia and is a member of the Planning Institute of Australia.

Fast Track Approvals
Humphreys Reynolds Perkins is a Brisbane City Council accredited consultant for RiskSmart.

RiskSmart is an application assessment and approval process that allows low-risk development proposals to be fast tracked with a commitment from Brisbane City Council to decide those applications within 5 business days.

In addition to saving time, RiskSmart applications may also qualify for a discount in Council assessment fees of up to 30%.

Eligible development proposals range from certain types of subdivisions, houses and multi-unit dwellings to extensions to shopping centres, industrial uses and prescribed tidal works.
